{Valentine's Day Mini-Session Marathon}

Valentine's Day is still 46 days away.  Yes, that's a ways away, but there's no harm in preparing for it now :)

So, I'm going to be offering a Valentine's Day Mini-Session Marathon.  Think red, hearts, candy, and other things that make you say, "Valentine's Day!".  I'll be bringing props with me (you can choose to use them or not), and all you have to bring is you and/or your sweethearts (or if you have an item you want to use in your photos, bring it, too!).

We'll be shooting in downtown Winston-Salem, so there will be more of an urban feel to your photos.  If you don't like urban, I suggest not booking one of these sessions.  I'm only shooting over a 4 hour period, and each session will be up to 25 minutes long, and there will only be 8 spots available.  First come, first serve.

Here are the details:

What: 25 minute mini-session
When: Saturday, January 22nd
Time: 11:00 AM - 3 PM
Where: Pepper Building, 101 West 3rd Street (downtown Winston-Salem)
What you get: 5 images on disc, with printing rights to you so that you can print the images as you please
Investment: $25 (due at session time)

What do you need to do?  Pick one of the time slots below and e-mail to say what spot you want, and we'll book it!  Show up at the designated spot on Saturday, January 22nd at your selected time, and we'll shoot for about 25 minutes.  Within a few days of your session, I'll contact you to let you know your disc is ready.

11-11:30  **booked**
11:30-12

{Merry White Christmas}

We don't get much snow in our part of North Carolina, so to get ANY snow is exciting, and to get snow on Christmas Day is even more exciting!

Hope each of you are having a beautiful and merry Christmas Day!

{Merry Christmas!}

I'm "off" to enjoy my family for the next week.  All e-mails and phone calls will be returned on Monday, the 27th.  Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

{Christmas Reflection}

It's almost Christmas Day.  May you reflect, in the days to come, on the true meaning of Christmas.  I know it's cliché, but it's not about the gifts and the food, and it's not even about time spent with our families and friends.  Yes, all those things are great (and I hope each of you are spending Christmas in a wonderful way), but may we remember the little ONE born at Christmas.  The ONE whom the angels proclaimed.  JESUS.

{Baby's First Christmas}

Little boy "W" is 5 months old.  Handsome, happy little guy!  When I arrived at his grandparent's house, he was out cold.  Visions of sugar-plums dancing in his head perhaps? ;)

As you can see, he woke up a happy little camper.  Sweet smiles.  Most of those smiles may or may not have come from seeing his pawpaw close by :)

I so enjoyed meeting you, little "W", and your mommy and grandparents!  Thank you for inviting me into your nana and pawpaw's home!  Merry 1st Christmas, little one!

No, I do not edit out baby drool.  I don't discriminate ;)

{Your Floral & Framing Experts}

Remember this little girl?

She's from this lovely session I posted yesterday.  Well, her mommy and daddy are very talented and crafty, and I want to spread the word for them, especially to those of you who are getting married or just want your photos framed!  Helloooo, could I have met 2 more wonderful people to help you all out with your wedding flowers or frame needs?  I think not!

Check it!  Jennifer is a floral arranger/designer/extraordinaire and her husband Craig is a picture framing expert.  Jennifer is Green Bee Floral Designs.  Check out the work she does along with her partner.  You will NOT be disappointed.  Craig is the manager at Frame It.  For those of you familiar with the Winston-Salem area, Frame It is located in the T.J.Maxx/Lowe's Foods Shopping Center on Robinhood Road.  There is nothing like having a custom-made frame or buying a frame that will fit your pictures perfectly.  I have no doubt Craig will be able to help you out!

I will be in touch, Jennifer and Craig! :)

{Christmas Hugs & Kisses}

I love my clients (thanks, Kassel family, for the treats)!

And eating the above yumminess makes me think of the commercial below.  I love it.  It doesn't ever get old to me.  You'll want to turn off the site music to hear the commercial.

{"She will fill our lives with sunshine...And our hearts with love."}

I saw the above title quote recently (anonymous author?), and I couldn't help but think of it when I had a newborn session with this beautiful family.

Little Mae (just 2 weeks young), her big brother Sam (2 years old) and her mommy and daddy had me come to their home for this session, and I was delighted to take pictures of them in their environment.  It was cozy and warm, and what a lovely home they have!

Jennifer and Craig, thank you for asking me to capture these photos of your precious, beautiful little girl and your sweet, sweet family.  You all were definitely a treat!  Merry Christmas!

Perfect little Mae:

Love this little sequence of "look here, Sam", heh ;)

While mommy fed Mae, Sam and I played in his room...

Love his colorful room! - and those big BLUE eyes!

The game of putting things on our heads :)

Mae and Sam are in an old, old cradle.  If I remember correctly, Craig said it's from the mid 1800's.  How cool is that?!

So tiny on that big couch!

Dontcha love those little lips?

{Friends | Session Sneak}

It was cold.  Drizzly.  Gray.  Cold.  Cold.  Did I mention it was cold?  Despite the rain, cold, and lack of sunshine, these girls were awesome.  You might recognize Tori from her senior session and when she contacted me about doing a shoot with friends - just because - I said, of course!

Unfortunately one of the friends wasn't able to make it, but Tori and Carly came out, and I'm glad they decided to in spite of the dreary weather.  Thanks, girls!

{For My 2010 Clients}

If you had a session with me in 2010 (or still gonna have one), I want to say THANK YOU for your business!  I've enjoyed getting to know (or know better, for those I already knew!) each and every one of you!  What fun you all are!

And as a way of saying thank you - I want to give you $25 off your first 2011 session.

Have a very Merry Christmas!  I hope to see you again in 2011.

{Chances for Free Sessions!}

I'm always looking for new things to do, new clients to bring in, so here's your chance to help me out!  And besides, who doesn't want a chance at winning something, right? :)  You may enter into as many of the choices as you'd like.

1. Share your favorite Christmas tradition either by commenting below this post or posting it on my Boy & Girl Photography Facebook profile (you will have to 'like' Boy & Girl Photography to be able to write on the wall).  Doing it this way - other people will be able to see what Christmas traditions you all have!  It's fun!  I will be drawing the names of whoever enters from a hat.  Like, seriously - a hat ;)  Anyway, whoever's name I draw - YOU win a FREE session!  This contest ends on Friday, the 24th - Christmas Eve!  **update**  Courtney White is our winner.  Her favorite Christmas tradition is this: "every year at christmas my grandparents put on a huge christmas eve dinner for our family and close friends who dont have family in the area. before dinner everyone gathers together and plays crazy grames. these games are invented by my grandfather. one year he hung up a toy possum and we had to shoot the possum with marshmallows from a marshmallow gun. playing these games would def be my favorite tradition!"  Thank you for sharing this with us, Courtney!

2. Refer a friend to me.  If they book a session and follow through with it, YOU (not your friend) win a FREE session!  I'm limiting this contest to 10 people, so first (10 to) come, first (10 to) serve.  This does not apply if you had a friend (that you referred) book and follow through with a session before I posted this contest.  **update** This contest is closed.

3. Book a session this month for January, and YOU win a FREE session!  Easy, right?  I'm limiting this contest to the first 5 people to book a session for January before December is over**update** This contest is closed.

4.  I'm almost at 200 fans on Facebook - 190, to be exact.  Be in the next 10 'fans' to bring me up to the 200 mark, and YOU win a FREE session!  Those of you who are already 'fans' on Facebook, tell those who aren't to 'like' Boy & Girl Photography!   **update** I've reached 200+ 'fans' - thanks so much, y'all!

These contests are, of course, only for those of you who live in the Triad area.  Hope to hear from you soon!

{Where I Talk About Session Payment}

It's been another long week for us...my turn to feel crummy and my daughter's still getting over her crumminess.  Hope the rest of you are well!

I don't ever like bringing up topics that might offend someone, but I need to, because I do run a business, and I do have a family, and so I have to keep things in line.  So, I'll keep it short and simple - PAYMENTS ARE NOW DUE AT THE TIME OF YOUR SESSIONUnfortunately I've had some issues with people not paying or paying way later than when I've asked them to pay.  It shouldn't ever happen that way (I can't imagine ever doing that to someone for the business they've provided me), but it does sometimes.

I will have an array of sessions to post soon.  For now, here's one from a session I did recently.  I love me some good jumpers :)
